Conductor
Yuri Bashmet & YSOR
The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia led by the eminent violist and conductor Yuri Bashmet comes to Singapore in its debut Asian tour.
Formed in 2012, the Orchestra has performed throughout Russia including the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, and at the concert halls of Berlin, Brussels, Geneva and Vienna to critical acclaim. With 90 young musicians handpicked from auditions held in cities across Russia, the Orchestra thrilled a full house audience with its heart-stirring programme.
A very special moment of the concert was the Russian soloist Tatiana Samouil performing with Singapore’s 11 year old talent Chloe Chua, fresh from her win at the Yehudi Menuhin Music Competition 2018.
The poise, confidence, and musical maturity of Chloe Chua beyond her tender 11 years, shone through as she shares the stage with Tatiana in Vivaldi’s double violin concerto – her first orchestral performance after her stunning win at the 2018 Menuhin Competition.
