In symphony with nature!  Enjoy the gardens with a rare full symphonic outing by an orchestra in recent times!

After a 2 year  hiatus, Beethoven im Garten returns for a 3rd edition on 26 Mar 2022 at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Ten guest musicians from the Dresden Philharmonic and its affiliate the Kurt Masur Academy will spend a week in residency at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music engaging with students in rehearsals, coaching and masterclasses,  culminating in the concert at the Botanic Gardens.

Conceptualised and directed by Maestro Kahchun Wong, Beethoven im Garten celebrates Singaporean-German Friendship through the gift of music, building on the achievements of Wong ‘s connections as an alumnus of music academies in Singapore and Germany.

Wong is presently the Chief Conductor of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Principal Guest Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic.

Four musicians from the Dresden Philharmonic formed the Collenbusch Quartet in 2012 after coming together for the first time for a chamber music evening at Schloss Albrechtsberg in Dresden. They have been making music together ever since. The Quartet is named after the Dresden art lover and patron Friedrich Adolph Collenbusch (1841-1921).

 


 

About Kahchun Wong

Kahchun Wong is the Chief Conductor of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Principal Guest Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic.  He first came to international attention as the winner of the Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition in 2016, and regularly collaborates with distinguished orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, China Philharmonic and Shanghai Symphony. In 2021, Wong made his conducting debut with the Dresden Philharmonic and has been re-invited to lead the orchestra again in 2022 for the Dresden Music Festival.
