Lutoslawski Quartet Asia Tour
Marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Polish composer Witold Lutoslawki, the Lutoslawski Quartet embarkws on a special Asian tour.
Members of the Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Quartet will performed a special programme of Polish music at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, Tongyeong International Music Festival, Singapore Chamber Music Festival, Kioi Concert Hall Tokyo, Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall, Hangzhou Concert Hall in Jan 2013.
About the Quartet
Founded in 2007, the Lutosławski Quartet performs contemporary music as well as recently commissioned pieces, and focuses on popularizing Polish music, including works by Lutosławski, Bacewicz, Szymanowski, and also compositions by one of the group members – Marcin Markowicz. An ensemble made up of versatile and open-minded artists, they blend the contemporary repertoire with classical, Romantic and jazz music. Their future plans include further recording projects that promote Polish music.
The quartet works as one of the resident ensembles at the National Forum of Music.
Co-produced by CultureLink, the Wroclaw-based National Music Forum and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
